-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

To: All @irishnation.com email address account holders.
The @irishnation.com email service is hosted by everyone.net who provide the online email interface in return for placing advertisements within it. This arrangement has operated well for over a decade but everyone.net have now decided to end the agreement.

We have received notification that they intend to delete all 37,000+ email accounts who signed up under this service!

Naturally we are very unhappy with this development which is a direct breach of the initial agreement.
By dramatically breaching the agreement we had with them everyone.net are effectively choosing to end its relationship with irishnation.com.

This is their decision alone. We have no control over this as the servers that host the email files are theirs.

We have asked everyone.net to reconsider but they have refused.
We have asked them to extend the deadline but they have refused.

We received notification from everyone.net that the Service will be discontinued from February 23rd for receiving new email. On March 23rd these email accounts will be deleted.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mailplus users: everyone.net have a separate agreement with 12 (twelve) account holders who have bought their Mailplus product, out of the 37,000+ email account holders . Each of these 12 users have paid everyone.net a fee which essentially removes the advertising from their accounts.

Irishnation.com did not profit from this separate arrangement in any way. Fees were collected by everyone.net. If you are one of the 12 users who bought Mailplus from everyone.net then your contract is with them, not irishnation.com. How everyone.net choose to operate their Mailplus product in the future is for them to decide.

We have requested clarification about the Mailplus accounts from everyone.net. They have indicated that they will refund those who have paid for premium Mailplus accounts on a pro-rata basis for the balance of the year that was paid for.

We dont know if it will be possible that Mailplus users can still log-in to the everyone.net servers using the original passwords to access their files. This is unclear. You should contact everyone.net directly since the servers are theirs and not ours. When everyone.net turns off 'email receiving' on Feb 23rd next they will have breached their agreement with irishnation.com and will be choosing to effectively end its relationship with irishnation.com.

With regard to sending and receiving emails the 'email forwarding' option described below is available to all 37,000+ users of the service.

We regret this development and the inconvenience it causes. It should be reiterated that irishnation.com does not want the email service to shut down at all. The decision to delete over 37,000 email accounts was made unilaterally by everyone.net.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: As of today (16th Feb 2017) everyone.net have re-committed to taking responsibility for their Mailplus users:

DATE: 16th Feb 2017
FROM : EVERYONE.NET TECH SUPPORT

Unfortunately, the decision to terminate the free service came down from our upper level management. The Publisher Mail shut-down initiative came from our CEO and Legal Team, with the dead-line to have this accomplished in Q1.

I see that you want to continue offering a free service, and planning to move. However, all services for free users will terminate on March 23rd. As for upgraded Mail Plus users, if you are planning to move, we will take care of their upgraded services.

Thank You, Support Department

irishnation.com note about the above:
While we are pleased to be informed that everyone.net have accepted their responsibility to their Mailplus users, we are unclear what the 'planing to move' above refers to as we have no plans to move - the email service is being discontinued by everyone.net who own the email servers.

SOLUTION TO ENABLE YOUR CONTINUED USE
OF YOUR @IRISHNATION.COM EMAIL ADDRESS

irishnation.com can set up an 'email forwarding facility' that will forward all email from yourname@irishnation.com to any other email account you own.

In this way you can keep your @irishnation.com email address! There is a small annual administration fee for this forwarding service of US$9 or equivalent in your currency. You can order this email forwarding service from here: https://www.irishnation.com/email-1yearforwarding.html

If you do not have an alternative email account to forward email to then you can get one for Free from Google:

1. Go to https://mail.google.com/mail/signup

2. Complete the easy signup form - we suggest you use irishnation in the username you select.
For example: if your current email account is joesmith@irishnation.com then we suggest you register joesmith-irishnation@gmail.com as your new Gmail username (or some memorable variant of that username).

3. Log-in to your new Gmail account and change the settings so that when you send email from your new Gmail account it looks as though the email came from yourname@irishnation.com. We can send you instructions for this.

Anyone who reads and replies to emails from yourname@irishnation.com will then have their email forwarded to your new Gmail account (assuming you avail of the forwarding service from here: https://www.irishnation.com/email-1yearforwarding.html).

In this way you can continue to use your @irishnation.com email address and there will be no need to inform all your contacts that you have changed email address!

FAQ

Question: Will I be able to download and access my saved emails and files, photos, etc., on my irishnation.com account after the service is closed down shortly?

Answer:No, you wont. Alas this is out of our control. The hosting company are ending the service. Download any important documents, emails or photos Today. DONT WAIT! (Mailplus users should contact everyone.net to establish if you can access your email files for the duration of your contract with them - it may be possible for these 12 account holders to access files later - that decision is for everyone.net).

Question: Can I keep my @irishnation.com email address and continue to use it?

Answer: Yes you can if you sign up for the email forwarding service and then set up a new Gmail account (or use another email account you already own).

Question: What about my Contacts (list of people who have emailed me or who I email regularly), can they be exported to Gmail?

Answer: Alas the everyone.net service does not seem to have an export facility so the best solution is to copy all of your Contacts into a text file (or email) and then email them to your new Gmail account (or other email account you already own) from where they can be retrieved and inserted into the new email program.

IMPORTANT:

You should Immediately download any important files, photos or emails being held in your @irishnation.com email account. Do that today! You can then email them to your new Gmail account (or other email account you already own), for safe-keeping.

HOW TO IMPORT YOUR EMAIL INTO GMAIL FROM YOUR @IRISHNATION.COM EMAIL ACCOUNT

When you set up a free Gmail account you can copy your email message and contacts into Gmail.
When you first set up a Gmail account you will be shown these options:

Select the Import contacts and mail option.

You will be required to provide the log-in details to your @irishnation.com email account into Gmail:

PASSWORD: This is the same password that you use to login to your web-based email account.

POP Username: YOURACCOUNT@irishnation.com (change this to your @irishnation.com email address)

POP Server: pop.everyone.net

You will then be prompted to 'Leave a copy on the Server or delete from the Server'
Select 'LEAVE A COPY ON THE SERVER'

You can then proceed with the download which may take a few hours and will be completed in the background by Gmail. Depending on how this is set-up your contacts may have to be added manually from your @irishnation.com account but this POP import method at least saves your emails to the Gmail servers.
